PLACES OF JAPAN 11 - “KOCHI HOUSES”
I quite enjoyed this row of eclectic homes in Kochi as I love the hodgepodge of materials used to construct each home. If Mad Max ever went beyond the Thunder Dome to Kochi I could see him building a similar home out of found materials.
What’s interesting is that although each of these three homes is very unique, all three seem to have the same door.
Also, in case you are wondering, the earthquake was nowhere near Kochi so the homes you see here are definitely still standing.

PEOPLE OF JAPAN 26 - “THE HUMAN HIGHLIGHTER”
Without the bright blue earmuffs he’d be just another regular guy who happens to wear bright clothes. But with the bright blue earmuffs he ups his game and transforms into “The Human Highlighter”. Watch out because if he thinks you’re important he might brighten your day!!! What an awesome super hero.
Note to self: Make “Human Highlighter” comic book, make lots of money, buy big screen tv, order some pizza, watch Cupcake Wars with Vicki, eat pizza, watch Animal Hoarders with Vicki, order more pizza.

COOL STUFF IN JAPAN 07 - “KOCHI TROLLEY”
I rather enjoyed the trolleys in Kochi as the red and green interiors reminded me of Amélie, one of my favorite films ever.
Aside from that, simply being on a trolley in the year 2011 was in-and-of-itself a really magical experience. Outside of San Francisco and Mister Rogers reruns you don’t see them too much these days.

COOL STUFF IN JAPAN 06 - “CHRISTMAS EVE CHERRY PICKER”
I feel bad for anyone spending Christmas Eve atop a Cherry Picker who is not actually picking cherries. For anyone who may be confused a Cherry Picker is a type of “aerial work platform that consists of a platform or bucket at the end of a hydraulic lifting system”.
Also, you can’t really see it in this photo, but there is a woman working atop that Cherry Picker and she is NOT wearing a helmet. Japanese women fear nothing!
